Shiatsu is a Japanese form of physical bodywork incorporating gentle manipulation, stretching, holding and mobilization. Shiatsu involves finger pressure on acupuncture points. Shiatsu is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine involving ‘Energy or Qi’ which flow in a series of channels in the human body called ‘Meridians’. Tai Chi is based on the movements of animals adapted for the human form. In its origin myth, in the thirteenth century, a Chinese monk, called Chang Sen Feng saw a snake and a crane fighting. The monk based his martial style upon the animal movements of retreat and attack. There is a focus on breathing, slow movement and the connection to your body and mind and being grounded.
