Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of physical bodywork incorporating gentle  manipulation, stretching, holding  and mobilization.  Shiatsu involves finger pressure on acupuncture points. Shiatsu is  based on Traditional Chinese Medicine involving ‘Energy or Qi’ which  flow in a series of channels in the human body called ‘Meridians’. Shiatsu works with acupuncture points, meridians and the body and mind to sustain you in good health.

How will it help me?”

  • 1) Relieve and ease stress.
  • 2) Inspire greater mental and physical wellbeing.
  • 3) Support you when  involved in health recovery.
  • 4) Build a greater sense of self.

Shiatsu is carried out with the clothed client lying on a Shiatsu futon on the floor  and also can be performed  seated or on a massage table. Treatments can last from 30 to 60 minutes. It is best to wear clothes that do not restrict movement.

Diagnosis

Diagnosis is by a conversation, finding out about your lifestyle and habits, followed by a Hara diagnosis where the abdomen is felt for energy signatures. This is called palpation. Treatment is based on conversation and the hara diagnosis.

Treatment

Shiatsu involves gentle rotation and movement of joints and muscles. After the treatment you may feel more relaxed and ready to enjoy life. Long term benefits spring from regular treatments.
